LOGAN SAINTS DEVELOPMENT DAY
23 February 2010

LOGAN’S most dynamic and fastest growing football club is chafing at the bit to unleash the force of its lean, keen playing machine on the Brisbane rugby scene.

Armed with an arsenal of 18 teams, reinforced by the talents of 20 state and national representative players, Logan Rugby is determined to take 2010 by storm and prove its right to premiere status, Logan City Junior Rugby Union Club president Geoff Leeming says.

“With a majority of Logan teams in A Division the quality of our players means that we are a force to be reckoned with,’’ Mr Leeming said.

“The club has developed the unequalled talents of Wallaby’s five-eighth Qade Cooper, Brumbies hooker Matt Ika and Australian schoolboys Joel Faulkner and Matti Garland.

“Now after 20 years, the club – with the development of its new purpose-built rugby union fields and facilities – has fortified its position to foster and promote the rugby union’s stars of the future.’’

Logan Junior Rugby’s assault on the 2010 competition begins with an invitation for all to attend an action-packed development day on February 28, from 10am-2pm at Homestead Park, Jodie Street, Shailer Park.

And you can brush shoulders with Queensland Reds stars following their clash with the Auckland Reds at Ballymore and a week before they head to Waikato, NZ, to meet the Chiefs head-on.

“Logan Junior Rugby offers all children (male and female) - aged five to 17 - the opportunity to participate in a truly worldwide team sport,’’ Mr Leeming said.

“Logan Junior Rugby teaches the children how to play a fast and continuous contact sport (six tackles are never enough) while developing team disciplines and respect for the rules and officials while having the time of their lives with great mates.

“And with more than 225 junior players, it is not just the kids who have fun. After the games, the club offers a fully-licensed bar to give the over-18s and parents an opportunity to relax.”

Logan Junior Rugby’s development day kicks off with laser skirmish from 10am-noon and gets even better throughout the afternoon with an obstacle challenge, gladiator ring, bouncie boxing, an inflatable waterslide castle and face painting.
