RECORD NUMBERS OF JUNIORS SIGN UP FOR THE SAINTS
13 February 2011

The Logan Saints junior club has enjoyed its most successful pre-season in club history with playing numbers growing beyond all expectations with still time for more players to join the club before the season starts for 2011.

After only two weekends of preseason sign up, the Logan Saints juniors have had a record number of Under 6 to Under 17 players nominated to play. Logan City Junior Rugby Union Club president Geoff Leeming has been ecstatic with the numbers.

With an arsenal of 18 teams, reinforced by the talents of up to 20 state and national representative players, Logan Rugby is determined to take 2011 by storm and prove that it’s a growing force in Brisbane rugby, Mr Leeming says.

“With a majority of Logan teams in A Division the quality of our players means that we are a force to be reckoned with,’’ Mr Leeming said.

“The club has developed the talents of Wallaby’s five-eighth Quade Cooper, Brumbies hooker Matt Ika and Australian schoolboys Joel Faulkner and Matt Garland.

“Now after being part of Brisbane rugby for 20 years, the club has the development of its new purpose-built rugby union fields Paradise Road, now being constructed, to look forward to and has really taken steps to strengthen its place as an exciting breeding ground for junior rugby players.’’

Logan Junior Rugby offers all children (male and female) - aged five to 17 - the opportunity to participate in a truly worldwide team sport.

Playing junior rugby with the Logan Saints teaches children how to play a fast and continuous contact sport while developing team discipline and respect for the rules and officials while having the time of their lives with great mates.
