LOGAN CITY SCORES BACK TO BACK WINS
7 July 2009

Logan City Saints scored back to back wins with a comprehensive 29 to 12 win over Norths at Homestead Park on Saturday. The Saints gave up an early try to be down 7 nil before exerting their forward dominance.

“After our first round draw and having the opportunity to watch Norths and Sunnybank play last week we realised that there opportunities to apply pressure both through our forwards and Norths showing some really poor kick return options” said Coach Mark Forrester.

Logan’s forwards again dominated at scrum time constantly calling for scrums under the ELV’s denying any opportunity for Norths to get into the game, constantly forcing leaving them to use the ball going backwards.

While Forrester acknowledged that his team ground Norths down he was also quick to point out that his team also scored 5 tries. “While our defence has improved dramatically we have certainly attacked with much more purpose and stopped playing sideline to sideline rugby. Additionally our midfield defence has improved markedly.” said Forrester.

Logan are not getting carried away with the victory over a Norths side that is clearly on the downward spiral. ‘ While Norths were undefeated last time we played them they were coming off a couple of heavy losses they were clearly down on confidence so it’s important to keep the win perspective and aim to maintain our improvement over the last two rounds.” said Forrester.

With injury doubts over Tim Woods(jaw), Josh Robinson(foot) and Gavan Maioha(groin) the saints ability to continue field their dominant forward pack under threat against arch rivals Sunnybank  this weekend. Standout performers this week for Logan were inspirational captain Rex Harrison, Fullback Elliot Lecarz and hardworking lock Josh Robinson
