Logan Saints made have now won three matches in a row with their 26 to nil home victory against Sunnybank on Saturday. Importantly the Saints scored a bonus point in the local derby to push them into the top half of the ladder. Despite a comprehensive win Coach Mark Forrester was putting the result into perspective.
“While we improved again in a playing sense from last week’s result being realistic we comprehensively defeated the teams that’s running last. It’s fair to say that we were not really put under a lot of pressure. Having said that is certainly the best we have played since the state cup. ”
“Our improvement has been based around our defence and shutting down the sideline to sideline rugby that is generally played under the ELV’s. An additional factor is undoubtedly over the last three weeks is that we have pretty much fielded our state cup side from earlier in the year.”
Logan started strongly with their forwards again dominating the set pieces. The Saints back row trio of Tim Hintz, Jay Staunton and Tim Woods created havoc at the breakdowns particularly in an intense first half.
Logan went into half time leading 14 to nil with tries to Tim Woods and Tim Burrow. The second half was a mirror of the first with the Saints showing great composure in the final stages to secure the bonus point win.
In a man of the mach performance and scoring two tries Tim Burrow stood out for the Saints as did flanker Tim Hintz and try scoring prop Leon Makiri (pictured).
