The Logan Saints moved into third place on the first-division rugby union ladder with a solid 19 – 12 win over the Easts Tigers on the weekend.
While the previously third-placed University of Queensland struggled in their match Souths before eventually going down 33 – 17, Logan made the most of that lapse when they took on the Tigers at Bottomley Park.
Saints’ prop James Brooking, hooker Pat Fepuleai and outside centre Lathe Rua all crossed the line to score tries with half-back Tim Burrows kicking two conversions.
In response, Easts only managed to score two tries which was not enough against a determined Logan team.
Club representative Mark Konecny was positive about the team’s form at this stage of the season.
“This was the first game of the second half of the season and Easts knocked us off in round one so we couldn’t be happier that we turned that result around in such a good way,” said Konecny.
“It’s particularly good that having a week off last week didn’t do anything to stop our momentum and with the way the boys are playing, we’re keen to see how we go with finals on the horizon.”
The Logan Saints continue their first-division rugby union campaign next week with matches against the Wests Bulldogs at Homestead Park, Shailer Park.
