SMART RUGBY PLAYER SAFETY COURSE
13 May 2009
The final Smart Rugby player safety course in Brisbane for 2009 will be held next week, Wednesday 20th May at Ballymore.
SmartRugby is a free occupational health and safety program for Australia's rugby participants. It is a compulsory minimum requirement for every coach and referee participating in Rugby where there is a tackling component.
Over 100 of the 2.5 hour courses have been run by the QRU so far this year, with almost 2,000 participants attending.
The final Brisbane course will be held at 6pm at QRU headquarters at Herston and pre-registration is required. Contact michael.lucas@qru.com.au to register.
Another three courses will be held in Mackay in central Queensland on June 22, August 10 and October 5. Registration is not required for those courses.
Smart Rugby accreditation is compulsory for all Australian coaches and referees, right up to international level. Re-accreditation is necessary every two years. SmartRugby participants receive a free booklet and CD-Rom upon attendance. Participants also receive a MyRugbyCard which outlines current coach and match official qualifications and accreditations.
